Welcome to the jlab team! Here we collect a list of useful things to know for new team members such as yourself:

  - if you don't yet have a BCF account, please [[system:requestaccount|request one]] or write an email to [[bcf@computational.bio.uni-giessen.de]] as soon as possible to gain access to our IT infrastructure. The **responsible** is Stefan.Janssen@computational.bio.uni-giessen.de; you best put him in CC of your request email.
    - we sometimes communicate via https://chat.computational.bio.uni-giessen.de/ and less frequent via https://research-chat.uni-giessen.de

    - for accessing the JupyterHub check this site: [[system:jupyterhub|JupyterHub]]
  - we have electronic door locks. Please contact our secretary [[Anette.Muendelein@computational.bio.uni-giessen.de]] to grant you according rights if you don't want to spend too much time in the hallway.
  - we also have physical keys, which you can get from Anette as well
  - we have a weekly group meeting, **Mondays at 10:00 am** (typically in hybrid format). There is no protocol and it shall serve as a forum for scientific / problem discussion. Please make room in your calendar for this max. 1h meeting. Please ask [[Anette.Muendelein@computational.bio.uni-giessen.de]] for the link to the conference system.
  - please remind Stefan, by dropping an email, to add you to our internal mailing list [[jlab@lists.uni-giessen.de]].

additional to-do's for employees:
  - //request novel HRZ account (g-Kennung and email)// this should automatically be triggered by the University's HR department.
  - ask Stefan to update "people" (https://www.uni-giessen.de/de/fbz/fb08/Inst/algorithm-bioinformatik/people) section on our webpage and mail him a portrait of yourself
  - ask BCF to create an account and add you to the unix group "jlab". Do so by sending a mail to bcf@computational.bio.uni-giessen.de and add Stefan in CC to show BCF members that this request is legit
  - ask Stefan to share our Google group calendar with you
  - ask Stefan about the link to our shared Gantt chart, which is the minutes of our group meetings
  - coordinate the purchase of a new University laptop for you (ask Stefan about the specifics)
